Hawaiian Turkey Burgers

Hawaiian Turkey Burgers: Serves 5  ( 7 points +) Add additional points for bun

  • 1 can sliced pineapple rings in juice ( 8 oz)
  • 1/2 c. dry bread crumbs
  • 1/2 c. sliced green onion
  • 1/2 c/ chopped red bell pepper
  • 1 T. low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 ( 20 oz) package lean ground turkey
  • ½ c. teriyaki sauce ( We use Lawry's teriyaki with pineapple marinade)

Coat grill rack with Pam. Drain pineapple, reserving 1/4 c. juice. In a bowl, combine the bread crumbs. onion, red pepper, soy sauce, salt and reserved pineapple juice. Add turkey and mix well. Form into 5 patties. Grill, covered, over medium heat for 3 minutes on each side. Brush with teriyaki sauce. Grill 4-6 minutes longer or until no longer pink. ( We have a George Foreman grill, so it is convenient for grilling inside in the winter)
Grill pineapple slices for 2 minutes on each side, basting occasionally with teriyaki sauce. Warm buns on grill. Serve burgers topped with one pineapple slice on each bun.
