French Dip Sandwiches



French Dip Sandwiches: serves 4 ( 7 points +)



  • 1 medium Vidalia onion, sliced thin
  • garlic powder
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 c. FF beef broth
  • 1/2 lb. thinly sliced deli roast beef ( lean)
  • 4 ( 2 oz) slices French bread
  • 2 slices reduced fat Swiss cheese ( such as Sargento)



Preheat oven to 450.
Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium high heat. Spray with cooking spray. Cook onion, until tender, adding water 1 T. at a time as needed. Sprinkle with garlic powder while cooking. Remove cooked onions from pan.
Add beef broth to pan, scraping bottom. Heat through. Remove from heat and stir in beef. Let stand 5 minutes.
Cut each piece of French bread in half horizontally. Place cut side up on cookie sheet. Bake 4-5 minutes or until toasted.
Place beef on bottom half of bread, top with onions and cheese, then top of bread.
